notes: The thirteenth release by Artificial Music Machine is an ambient retrospective of soundtracks for films that don’t exist (with the exception of several tracks from an original score for a film that does exist, F W Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu). To highlight the intriguing, dramatic aspects of the music, I developed a set of abstract textural images that create mood without dictating meaning. The images originated from bits of improperly scanned materials added and subtracted from one another. As for the text, a mechanical font was used to mimic the electronic elements of the music. In addition, the track times are listed in seconds to emphasize the esoteric nature of the project.
